I noticed that nigerian lawyers tend to do well as governors. Take a look at the following names
GODSWILL AKPABIYO
GABRIEL SUSWAN
SILVIAN CHIME
ROTIMI AMAECHI AND
BABATUNDE FASHIOLA.
THESE GOVERNORS HAVE TWO THINGS IN COMON. THEY ARE LAWYERS AND THEY ARE PERFORMING WELL. DOES THIS HAVE ANY CORRELATION? DOES IT MEAN LAWYERS MAKE BETTER GOVERNORS?
First, lawyers are advocates. A lawyer’s job is advocating specific positions on behalf of its clients, similar to a politician’s advocacy of a constituent’s interests. law is an extension of the democratic process. Lawyers are trained in navigating through legislation and policy, and this gives the legal profession a head start in understanding how society works, which in turn helps them serve it better.
Lawyers know their positional right and dont over use it. Even when they want to embezzle fund, they do so smartly with little trace. They know the implication of their action before acting. They posses good oratory skills which they use in convincing their followers.
In the upcomming election, should we all vote candidates who are lawyers?
